Hi, my name is Hugo ApƩro. Nice to meet you.
I’m a Hugo theme you’ll want to hang out with. š«š·
The page you are reading is based on a markdown file- look in content/about/
to edit. There, look inside the header
, main
, and sidebar
folders to get started building your own “about” page.
Why apƩro?
ApĆ©ro is a unique kind of casual get-together in French culture, when you gather with friends and get to know each other better over some apĆ©ritifs, snacks, and anything in between. A good apĆ©ro is one where you’d happily spend a few hours just hanging out.
I hope this theme helps you create your own virtual apĆ©ro. A place where you and your site’s visitors enjoy spending time, and one that helps folks get to know you better.

Critical Dialogue
A back and forth review-and-response (‘Critical Dialogue’) between Erik Bleich and myself, as authors of Covering Muslims, and Elisabeth Ivarsflaten and Paul M. Sniderman, authors of The Struggle for Inclusion: Muslim Minorities and the Democratic Ethos. As we write in response to their review, ‘Juxtaposing the findings of our two books leads to a host of compelling research questions. We look forward to further research that enriches our understanding of the interactions between media coverage and public attitudes toward Muslims and other marginalized groups.’

European solidarity
The long-term viability of European integration relies on a sense that member states and publics share important connections. Whether framed in terms of a European identity, the idea of linked fates, or more prosaically economic interdependence, a feeling that states and publics are connected is essential. Where does such a feeling come from? Does it make sense to think of it as transnational solidarity? Is it stronger in some countries than in others? And how do the European Union’s limits affect who the connectedness extends to?
